TCM for Cancer Support
Gentle, Evidence-Aware Support Before, During & After Cancer Treatment
Why Integrative Support Matters
Cancer treatment can be life-saving — but also deeply taxing. Many patients experience:
Ongoing fatigue
Sleep disturbances and anxiety
Digestive issues and loss of appetite
Joint pain, hot flushes, or hormonal symptoms from medication
Feelings of disconnection from their body
You don’t have to navigate this alone.
Traditional Chinese Medicine offers individualised care to support your wellbeing through and beyond treatment — easing side effects, calming the nervous system, and helping you rebuild vitality and clarity.
How I Support You
I work in alignment with your oncology care — never in conflict. My aim is to ease side effects, improve quality of life, and help you feel whole again during or after cancer treatment.
All treatments are adapted to your phase of care (chemo, surgery, hormone therapy, or recovery) and are designed with safety, gentleness, and clarity in mind.
Common Focus Areas:
Polyneuropathy (Nerve Tingling & Numbness)
Chemotherapy-induced nerve damage can cause pain, numbness, or tingling in the hands and feet.
I use specialised acupuncture protocols and external herbal foot soaks to promote microcirculation and nerve nourishment — a safe, effective approach even during active treatment.
Fatigue Recovery
Restore vitality during or after chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. Gentle herbal and acupuncture-based strategies help rebuild your body’s resources.
Hormonal Side Effects
Ease hot flushes, joint pain, and mood changes caused by aromatase inhibitors or hormone-suppressing medication — using acupuncture, ear acupuncture, or herbal support.
Hair Regrowth & Skin Repair
By supporting blood flow and nourishing internal resources, TCM can help improve the quality of hair regrowth, skin tone, and tissue recovery following intense treatment phases.
Emotional & Sleep Support
Cancer treatment often brings emotional challenges — anxiety, low mood, restlessness, and disrupted sleep are common. Many patients move through difficult mental phases, especially during chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, or recovery.
I use gentle acupuncture or safe, non-interfering herbal options to support emotional balance, reduce nervous system overactivity, and improve sleep quality.
Scar Healing with Acupuncture
Post-surgical scars can interfere with local circulation and energetic flow — sometimes even years later.
Using gentle acupuncture techniques, I support scar tissue recovery by:
- Improving blood flow and nerve signalling
- Reducing tightness, pain, or numbness
- Supporting emotional and energetic integration of surgical areas
Digestive & Metabolic Balance
Address common digestive disruptions such as:
- Loss of appetite or acid reflux (often post-radiation)
- Bowel changes after surgery (constipation, urgency, or irregularity)
- Metabolic sluggishness due to long-term medications
- Fluid retention or post-surgical edema
TCM offers dietary guidance and gentle herbal support tailored to each stage of recovery.
NADA Ear Acupuncture & Ear Seeds
Originally developed for trauma and recovery settings, the NADA protocol is a powerful tool for stress, sleep, and nausea — especially during cancer care. I use this technique for:
- Calming the nervous system
- Easing nausea
- Supporting hormone regulation (including hot flushes)
- Improving emotional balance and resilience
Ear seeds (tiny acupressure beads) can be left on the ears after your session to extend the effect — a simple, discreet form of continued support.
I often work in collaboration with hospital pharmacists to double-check herb-drug interactions and only prescribe safe herbal formulas.
Please note: I do not treat cancer itself. I support you holistically, safely, and alongside your oncology team when appropriate.
My Clinical Oncology Background
I am an active practitioner at KEM – Klinikum Essen-Mitte, a leading hospital for integrative oncology in Germany. As part of both the clinical team and the hospital’s research department, I support patients during and after cancer treatment with carefully tailored Traditional Chinese Medicine.
My approach is cautious and collaborative:
I work closely with hospital pharmacists to ensure safe, evidence-informed prescribing of Chinese herbs
I use precision acupuncture tailored to each patient’s constitution, stage of treatment, and side-effect profile
I focus on gentle, effective care that supports recovery without interference
As a registered member of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM) and the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), I adhere to the highest standards of safety and clinical ethics.
